Devon Master Thatcher, Mike Lewis is an experienced thatcher being actively involved with thatching for 30 years, since 1978.
After working in an office environment, Mike Lewis quickly realised that he wanted to work outside using his hands. and after a short period realised that thatching was his passions and has remained so until this day.
Mike Lewis Master Thatcher works with both Wheat Reed and Water Reed and offers a thatching and ridging service for both new and replacement thatches.
In addition to the design and thatch of houses Mike does also thatch summer houses, lych gates and wishing wells, as well as other interesting garden features.
rOver a twenty year span Mike has trained 5 apprentices but today he thatches alone.
Mike has carried out many thatching displays over the years at prestigious events including Hampton Court Flower Show, The Royal Show at Stoneleigh, County Shows and at local village fayres. Allowing members of the public to 'have a go' and get hands on experience with thatching.
